Rooted in more than a century of New York history, CRÈME’s redesign of The Algonquin Hotel guestrooms, elevators and corridors honors the property’s legacy while creating an ode to the city’s creative spirit. Working within the hotel’s historic footprint, the design embraces the intimacy and scale of the guestrooms, creating layered, residential spaces that feel warm and personal.
Rich walnut, ebonized oak, aged bronze, marble, and layered textiles are paired with subtle Art Deco references and jazz-inspired patterns. Throughout the guestrooms and corridors, Al Hirschfeld artwork curated in partnership with The Al Hirschfeld Foundation celebrates New York’s history of theater, music, literature, and popular culture.
Unexpected details, including luggage tag-inspired room signage featuring 181 individually curated quotes, bring moments of discovery and storytelling throughout. Together, these elements connect the hotel’s storied past with the creative energy of present-day Manhattan.
